Before I was Marketing Team Lead, I was a Program Coordinator! Managing events is one of my favorite ways to connect with my community. Check out some of my past events!
Drew Fright Night
October 2021
I worked with Andrew Lora, fellow Drew Night Life Event Coordinator, to host a Halloween party in the Ehinger Center! This event was a callback to our favorite elementary school activities around Halloween. We had mask painting, cookie decorating, a musical chairs, and a photo booth. Students were also able to compete in a costume contest, decided by the followers of the Student Activities Instagram! This was the first event that either of us had ever managed, and it went off without a hitch!
Happy Hour Trivia
November 2021
I worked with Jessica Luis, fellow Drew Night Life Program Coordinator, to host a trivia night! Groups of 2-4 people competed in 4 rounds of trivia, each round consisting of 10 questions. Home base was the campus Pub, where students and staff (21+) could have a traditional pub trivia night experience. We also set up TV’s and speakers in the 1867 Lounge to allow students under 21 to join in on the fun. While Jessica emceed from the Pub, I managed the lounge, talking with guests and rooting for their victories!
Soulmate Soiree
February 2022
My first independently coordinated event was a Valentine’s Day celebration with Drew Night Life! The Soulmate Soiree had an array of activities, including clay sculpture, snowglobe polaroid pictures, love letter writing, and a couple’s salsa lesson taught by Camille Moten. People also had a chance to get succulents and cake pops! This program was a huge success, with over 160 guests and 40 participants in the salsa lesson!
RHA Scavenger Hunt
March 2022
I worked with Muthoni Githinji, Business Manager of Residence Hall Association, to organize a campus-wide, Waldo themed scavenger over the course of two weeks. We collaborated with 13 clubs and organizations to promote their events and visibility among the student body. Each day, students had the chance to find and win various prizes from various clubs, ranging from gift cards to a TV! Another aspect of the program was finding our mascot, Ranger Bear, and posting a picture with him online! I dressed up as Ranger Bear for the second week, walking around campus and taking pictures with students to boost school spirit!
Pi an RA Day
March 2022
I coordinated 11 Resident Assistants and Coordinators to get pied for Pi Day (3/14)! All students had to do was follow Residence Hall Association’s Instagram to be able to throw a whipped cream pie at an RA. These RAs were troopers, taking over 400 pies to the face collectively! It was a fun day with pizza pies, mini fruit pies, and math games. I even got a pie to the face!
High-er Education
April 2022 & 2023
I worked with Terrance Somesla-McCornell and the Office of Diversity Programming to coordinate an educational marijuana awareness program on April 20th two years in a row. This event had information about how marijuana affects the body, what forming a healthy relationship with marijuana might look like, and the history of discriminatory policing of marijuana within minority communities. In addiition, students were able to pot a plant, grab a cake pop, draw on the ground with chalk, and eat fried food from Aunt Martha’s Funnel Cakes.
Midnight Scream
May 2022
The Midnight Scream is a popular tradition on many campuses that Residence Hall Association wanted to bring to Drew’s campus. Coming out of COVID-19, many traditions were lost, so we wanted to bring in some new ones while incorporating and transforming old ones. For our first Midnight Scream, we distributed 150 large pizzas to 13 residence halls, surrounding them with advertisements for the scream happening at midnight at the Ehinger Center (EC), as well as the ice cream truck. We had over 300 people at our first Midnight Scream! This event has become an end of the semester tradition for the last night of classes, and I have loved watching it evolve! Check out the first scream here!
Progressive Snack Night
August 2022
I coordinated orders from 10 local restaurants for Residence Hall Association’s annual food tour at the beginning of the school year. Progressive Snack Night spans across all 13 residence halls and is a way for new students to walk around the campus. This event gave me experience in budget management, food selection, and scheduling pickups and deliveries.
Bingo
2021-2024
Throughout my time at Drew University, I hosted a plethora of bingo events for the student body. From $2K Bingo Night, to Sex Toy Bingo, to Senior Bingo, I have engaged crowds of over 150 students in fun callouts and tiebreaking challenges. My experience with bingo also consists of selecting prizes, creating slideshow presentations, and setting up cards and chip cups.
